Introduction in English:

Jiang CHANG, Ph.D., is currently associate professor and Ph.D. program director at School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University. He holds a Ph.D. from Tsinghua University and Northwestern University on communication studies, and has accomplished a postdoc research project on gender studies at University of Geneva. Before joining the Tsinghua Journalism School faculty, he had been assistant professor at Journalism School of Renmin University of China.

He’s currently working on below topics: changing patterns of gender discourse in contemporary China, representation of China in Western popular media, and how technological evolvement is changing journalism culture.

Jiang CHANG has published over 130 research papers and book chapters in both English and Chinese during the past 5 years, with representative works published in international peer-review journals such as International Journal of Cultural Studies, European Journal of Cultural Studies, Journal of Contemporary China, Asian Journal of Communication, Chinese Journal of Communication , and several top-tier Chinese journals. He also authors several books, including A History of Chinese Television: 1958-2008 , The Construction of an Imagined Empire: Early History of American Cinema , and textbooks on broadcast media theory and practice.

Jiang CHANG has won numerous awards for his scholarship and academic performances, including Outstanding Young Scholar of the China Journalism and Communication Academy Awards, Cyrus Tang Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scholars, China's Most Influential Young Scholar of Humanities and Social Sciences Award, Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, etc.

Besides being a teacher and a scholar, Jiang CHANG is also active as a cultural critic who authors several newspaper and website columns.
